About

Bringing Authentic Mexican Birth Rebozos to the UK & Europe.
At More Than Tacos, we believe a rebozo is so much more than a piece of fabric. It carries tradition, connection, comfort, culture, and generations of craftsmanship woven into every thread.
We specialise in authentic handmade Mexican birth rebozos, labour wraps, and traditional baby carriers, carefully sourced from artisan makers across Mexico and trusted by doulas, birth practitioners, midwives, and families throughout the UK and Europe.
What began as a passion for Mexican culture has grown into a business dedicated to sharing the beauty and significance of real Mexican rebozos with others.
Our Story
More Than Tacos was founded by British-Mexican husband and wife James and Mirtha brought together by a shared love of Mexico, tradition, craftsmanship, and family.
James grew up just outside London. Mirtha grew up near Mexico City. Somehow, despite growing up thousands of miles apart, life brought them together — and the idea for More Than Tacos was born through regular trips back to visit family in Mexico.
During those visits, we discovered something surprising: authentic Mexican handmade goods were incredibly difficult to find in the UK, especially genuine traditional rebozos made by skilled artisan craftspeople.
At the same time, we saw the incredible talent, heritage, and care poured into these handmade pieces by communities across Mexico. Many artisans were continuing generations-old weaving traditions, yet their work was largely unavailable outside local markets and towns.
So we started bringing small collections back with us. Friends loved them. Then doulas loved them. Then birth workers started asking where they could buy authentic Mexican birth rebozos in the UK.
What started around our kitchen table slowly became More Than Tacos.
Today, we proudly supply handmade Mexican rebozos across the UK and Europe while continuing to support the artisan communities and craftspeople who make them.
Why Mexican Birth Rebozos Matter
The rebozo has been part of Mexican culture for centuries. Traditionally worn as shawls, wraps, and baby carriers, rebozos have also played an important role in pregnancy, labour, birth, and postpartum care for generations.
Today, birth rebozos are widely used by:
- Doulas
- Midwives
- Birth practitioners
- Pregnancy therapists
- Expectant parents
They can be used during labour for movement, support, positioning, grounding, massage techniques, and comfort. Many people also continue using them long after birth as baby carriers or comforting everyday wraps.
We are passionate about helping people discover authentic Mexican rebozos — not mass-produced imitations.
Every rebozo we source reflects traditional craftsmanship, vibrant culture, and the hands of the artisans who create them.
Supporting Artisan Communities Across Mexico
One of the most important parts of More Than Tacos is our connection with the makers behind the products.
We work closely with artisan craftspeople and small communities across Mexico who continue traditional weaving and textile-making techniques passed down through generations.
By choosing handmade rebozos, you are supporting:
- Traditional craftsmanship
- Independent artisan families
- Ethical handmade production
- Cultural heritage and preservation
Every piece tells a story, and we are proud to help share those stories beyond Mexico.
More Than Just Rebozos
While rebozos are at the heart of what we do, we also bring together a carefully chosen collection of handmade Mexican treasures, including:
- Traditional baby carriers
- Mexican mesh market bags
- Handmade accessories
- Colourful Mexican textiles
- Unique artisan gifts
Everything we stock reflects the same love for authenticity, craftsmanship, colour, and culture that inspired us from the beginning.
